Charles J. Gonsalves is our Director of Financial Education Programs. His focus entails the identification and coordination of key opportunities that would be suitable for the implementation of financial literacy programs.

Charles’ career has given him experience in two distinct disciplines; education and accounting. Early in his career, Charles worked 4 ½ years in public accounting and corporate audit. Charles then went on to serve 30 years as an educator with New York State Public Schools on Long Island and in New York City. Charles’ roles in the educational system included positions as Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics. Additionally, combining both disciplines, he served as an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at St. John’s University in New York. After closing out his career as an educator, Charles returned to financial services. Here he gained experience with Investment Banking and Insurance firms as a Registered Representative/Financial Advisor.

Charles earned his BA in Science and Physical Education from SUNY Oneonta. He then went on to earn an MBA in Accounting from Long Island University, a CAS from City College of CUNY in Educational Administration and Supervision and an Ed.M. in Educational Leadership from Columbia University. 

Along with Charles’ professional interests, he has been involved with USA Hockey as a Level 5 Master Coach for Youth Development programs and Power Skating/Tactical Skills Coach for 23 years. Prior to that he coached at the high school level for 7 years. He served for 10 years as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor mentoring many scouts, including his 2 sons who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
